Through the years the effects enjoyed most by magicians were close-up card and parlour magic primarily because they packed small and played big.
Many magicians have often wished that all this wonderful card magic could be performed on stage. Although there are some card effects that are possible to do on stage, more times than not, these are created to be performed primarily for close-up or for parlour. The difficulties for stage magic using playing cards are basically two fold.
1. Audiences that are in a stage environment cannot see a standard deck of cards. To overcome these magicians had to use jumbo sized cards. This leads to a second problem.
2. Either the magician or a volunteer has difficulty in handling the king size cards. E.g. Shuffling, palming, etc.
